這種大葉不死鳥繁殖力就很強了。繁殖力更強的是小葉有斑點那一種不死鳥，隨便的屋頂，有一點泥沙就能長，不過外觀不如大葉不死鳥討喜。為何不死鳥那麼耐旱？因為與仙人掌一樣是用 CAM&nbsp;Crassulacean acid metabolism (景天酸代謝) 的光合作用，夜間氣孔打開，吸收二氧化碳，合成有機酸。白天氣孔關閉，減少水份蒸發。不死鳥是景天科的植物。
